The Friends
of the Allagash members are active in many areas directly and indirectly associated with the north woods. These pages will show frequent
change (at unspecified intervals) as we present a broad variety of materials.
Come back often to sample the past, present and future of the Allagash and
Maine's north woods. Recent additions include a sampling of the once-bustling Tramway and railroad which carried northern logs and pulpwood to the Penobscot
watershed, a wintertime visit to the relics of those heroic lumbering efforts,
and the inauguration of a series of biographical sketches which will honor
the men and women whose lives and dedication created the rich and diverse
cultural backdrop of Maine's north woods heritage. Most recently we've
added an extensive selection of photos of cabins at Jalbert Camps being built by
Gary Pelletier & his crew.
